Joint operations net large quantity of drugs in Antigua
ST JOHNS, Antigua: On Friday and Saturday, a joint operation between The Office of National Drug and Money Laundering Control Policy (ONDCP) and the Royal Antigua and Barbuda Police Force (RABPF) resulted in the seizure of 12 kilos of cocaine (26.5 lbs) with an estimated street value of $431,964, and to date four suspects have been arrested. The agencies involved responded to information received that a vehicle believed to contain an unknown quantity of illegal drugs was in the vicinity of St John’s.
The vehicle was stopped and searched and a quantity of drugs was discovered. The vehicle carrying the drugs was seized and several individuals -- two Antiguans, a Jamaican and a Venezuelan -- are currently assisting law enforcement officers with their investigations.
